Dr. Celene Ibrahim

Dr. Celene Ibrahim is a cultural historian, scholar of Islam, author, and educator whose work explores religious studies, gender studies, and the public understanding of religion. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, a Master of Divinity from Harvard University, and a PhD in Arabic and Islamic civilizations from the Near Eastern and Judaic Studies Department at Brandeis University.


Dr. Ibrahim is the author of Women and Gender in the Quran and Islam and Monotheism, and the editor of One Nation, Indivisible: Seeking Liberty and Justice from the Pulpit to the Streets. She has taught and consulted internationally and currently teaches in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Groton School.
